Your Meesho dashboard says 0% returns. Here is the real number
Ye guide Hinglish mein bhi hai: Meesho dashboard aur asli return rate
If the dashboard says zero returns and the money still comes in short, both can be true. The problem is the file, not the business.
The order report does not show returns
The order CSV records the status at the time of the order. Goods come back later, and the CSV is not updated, so the dashboard shows 0 percent while the real figure can be 30.
Returns only appear in the payout or settlement file, because that is where the money is taken back.
How to get the real rate
Take tcs_sales_return.xlsx from GST Reports, total its taxable value, and divide by the total of tcs_sales.xlsx.
One real seller’s August: sales ₹4,09,970.64, returns ₹1,48,871.94. That is 36.3 percent, a number the dashboard never shows.
It is not only a GST problem
A 36 percent return rate means your real margin is not what you think. Commission and shipping are charged on returns too: the goods came back, the costs did not.
So look product by product. Some SKUs come back at 10 percent, some at 60. The average hides both.
Questions sellers ask
Which file is right, orders or payouts?
The truth about money is always in the payout file. The order file only tells you an order arrived.
Are RTO and returns different?
Yes. RTO never reached the customer; a return reached them and came back. Both cost money, but they are accounted differently.
