The Amazon MTR B2C report: 78 columns, and the two that matter
Ye guide Hinglish mein bhi hai: Amazon MTR report kaise padhein
Amazon’s report is the most detailed and the most dangerous. It has 78 columns, and most of them give the wrong answer.
Trust only two columns
Tax Exclusive Gross and Total Tax Amount are right on every row.
Invoice Amount is always their sum, and Total Tax is always the rate applied to Tax Exclusive Gross. In one file of 2,409 rows both held on every single row.
Rates are fractions
Amazon writes 18 percent as 0.18 and 5 percent as 0.05. Meesho and Flipkart write 18 and 5. A tool that takes the value as it is gets the rate wrong by a factor of 100.
Do not work turnover out from Principal Amount
Principal Amount includes tax and is before discounts. Turnover worked out from it comes out too high.
The Igst Tax column is not reliable
In one file, 558 of 2,409 rows had Igst Tax, Cgst Tax and Sgst Tax not adding up to Total Tax Amount. They are pre-discount figures.
Shipping Igst Tax is filled in but is not counted in Total Tax. Add it separately and it is counted twice.
Refunds: negative value, positive quantity
A refund row has a negative Tax Exclusive Gross but a positive Quantity. The quantity has to be made negative by you.
Cancel and FreeReplacement rows are zero
One file had 650 of them, 639 Cancel and 11 FreeReplacement, all with zero value. They are best left out.
Rows from earlier months
An August file had 59 rows dated June and July. A refund against an older invoice is normal; a shipment dated in an earlier month deserves a closer look.
Questions sellers ask
There is an MTR B2B too. What is it?
Sales to customers who gave a GSTIN. They go in a different table (Table 4) with different rules. If your account has B2B sales, have that month filed by a person.
What is the TCS rate on Amazon?
It is in the file: the Tcs Igst Rate column shows 0.005, which is 0.5 percent.
Now try it yourself
The tool is free. Upload your reports, Didi checks them, and you get a file ready for the GST portal.
